About Tony
Tony completed his honours degree in Bioanalysis & Biotechnology from Limerick Institute of Technology (LIT) in 2006. Upon completion of his degree he was selected to participate in the FÁS Science Challenge Internship Programme where he completed a six month internship working for Dynamac Corporation in the Space Life Sciences Laboratory in Kennedy Space Center. Tony then secured funding to enter a postgraduate research degree programme in LIT based on work done while interning with Dynamac Corporation in Florida. This work was funded through the Enterprise Partnership Scheme in conjunction with the Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering & Technology, and Dynamac Corporation. Tony’s research is focused on the effects of light on the phytonutrient content of lettuce, with particular focus on compounds which exhibit antioxidant activity.
